Chapter 5: Water
Water is important for us
We drink water, take a bath, cook food and wash clothes. Plants and animals need water too. Water has no colour, no smell and no taste.
Where do we get water?
Rain comes from the clouds. We also get water from rivers, ponds, wells, hand pumps and taps. Fish live in water. When water becomes very cold, it turns into ice, and when ice melts it becomes water again.
Clean water and saving water
We should drink clean boiled or filtered water. Dirty water can make us ill. Close the tap after using it and do not waste water.
