Chapter 2: Plants Around Us
Plants are living things
Plants grow. They need water, sunlight and air to grow.
Parts of a plant
The root holds the plant in the soil and takes in water. The stem holds the plant up straight. The leaves make food for the plant. A flower later becomes a fruit. Seeds are inside the fruit, and a seed grows into a new plant.
Kinds of plants and how we use them
Trees are big and strong. Small plants grow close to the ground. Climbers take support and grow upwards. Plants give us fruits, vegetables, grains, shade and wood.
